Frequently Asked Questions
The following are some of the more FAQs with regard to The Email Shop's secured Email hosting services. Should you have any other questions then please contact us and we will be pleased to assist you.

What is Personal Domain Secure Email hosting ?

You can have your personal domain or family domian emails address. Your own, registered domain name means that your email address advertises only you, not ‘freeserver.net’ or ‘anyotherdomain.com’ and will remain the same no matter which internet service provider you choose. You can see it like this: you@yourname.co.uk

What incoming & outgoing servers should I use?

  • Incoming (POP3) should be set to: yourdomainname.co.uk
  • Outgoing (SMTP) should be set to: yourdomainname.co.uk

Why, while sending emails I get an error "access denied" message from the server?
The outgoing mail server (SMTP) uses an authentication method to verify that the username that is trying to send the mail is a valid account. To fix the issue:
If you are using Outlook XP / 2002,follow these instructions to check it is set up correctly:

Go to Tools/Email Accounts, select View or change existing email accounts and click on the Next button. Select the email account and click on the Change button. Click on More Settings button and go to the Outgoing Server tab, tick yes to the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication option and select the OK button.

Can I read my emails online, without Outlook etc.?
We have provided a Web Mail solution to allow you to access your emails whilst away from your PC or if you wish to read mails online. Simply go to http://cp.theemailshop.me.uk/webmail and login with your full email address and password.

What is the maximum size of my mailbox?
The default mailbox size is set to 50MB. Realisticly you don't need a bigger mail box then this, in POP3 mail environment, emails are downloaded to your computer unless you chose not to do so. Size of email box is not a huge issue here.

What is the largest email I can send?
The mail servers are set up to limit email attachments to no bigger than 10MB. This is to help speed up the traffic through the servers.

Can i use my handheld device for emails?
Our email servesr are compatible with widely used handheld email devices such as iPhone, Blackberry and any device using MS Windows Mobile etc. You can leave settings as default with the email client software on your handheld and can use it to send/ receive emails w/o ssl option. Normally the information you need to activate is as follows:

Incoming Email Server: yourdomain.co.uk
Outgoing Email Server: yourdomain.co.uk
Username: your email username
Password: your email password
